NIFT Campus Life: The First Month and Jiya’s New Journey
Every year, when NIFT results are announced, thousands of students see their dreams
come true. Getting selected is a huge achievement, but the real journey begins when you
step into the NIFT campus for the very first time.
This year, many students from Flypen secured admission to NIFT, but today we’re talking
about Jiya. With dedication, the right coaching for NIFT, and strong fundamentals, Jiya
finally reached her dream design college.
Many people believe that a design college is all about glamour and creativity. The reality is
slightly different. The beginning is exciting, but it also comes with a lot of nervousness.

professional artists use it.
Orientation: From Anxiety to Confidence
For Jiya, the first week felt almost unreal. Entering the NIFT campus, everything seemed
new, inspiring, and a little overwhelming. During orientation sessions, when senior faculty
members introduced students to the world of design, Jiya realised something important:
NIFT is not just about “designing clothes”; it is about building a designer mindset.
In the initial orientation days, Jiya learned a lot:
Networking
Meeting creative minds from different states, cultures, and backgrounds. Every student had
a unique way of thinking—and that diversity is the real strength of NIFT.
The Power of ‘Rangtarang’
Rangtarang is a platform where only freshers perform—no judges, no pressure. When Jiya
performed on stage, her stage fear reduced significantly. This event plays a big role in
building confidence and bonding with batchmates.
Creative Field Visits
To understand design and creativity at a deeper level, students are taken to places like the
National Craft Museum. Seeing artisans at work made Jiya realise how deep and meaningful
the roots of Indian design truly are.
Assignment Pressure and Midnight Coffee
As the second week began, Jiya quickly understood that NIFT life is far more intense than
what Instagram shows.
Sketching, colour wheels, texture sheets—the work just keeps coming.
Many nights, Jiya sat in the hostel mess at 1 a.m., completing her sheets with a cup of
coffee by her side. This is where the discipline she learned during her NIFT preparation
phase really helped her.
Design college constantly tests your patience. Until your mentor rejects your sheet with a red
pen, you haven’t fully learned the real lessons of design school
Struggles Every NIFTian Faces
Every NIFT student goes through these challenges:
Time Management : Managing assignments after 9-to-5 classes
Perfection Pressure : Striving for perfection in every line and fold
Homesickness : Missing home, which slowly fades with friends and campus life
Finding Your Creative Voice
By the end of the month, Jiya had started understanding NIFT terminology. She was no
longer just completing assignments—she had begun thinking like a designer.
She faced her first jury mock, where she learned how to take feedback not personally, but
constructively. This is the moment when a student slowly starts becoming a budding
designer.
Conclusion: NIFT is Not Just a College, It’s a Transformation
Jiya’s first 30 days were exhausting, but they gave her a new sense of confidence, clarity,
and creative direction. Life at NIFT is tough, but this toughness is exactly what prepares
students for the design industry.
If you dream of getting into top design colleges like NIFT, NID, CEED, or UCEED, starting
early and having the right mentorship is extremely important.
At https://flypen.in/ , we don’t just focus on exam preparation—we help students build a
designer mindset, which is essential to survive and shine on campuses like NIFT.
The design journey may be challenging, but with the right guidance, every path becomes
easier.
